Very welcome to the
Olidan Guest House in Trollhättan
The Olidan guest house is beautifully situated on the so-called "Canal island" next to the Trollhättan Canal in Trollhättan. The guesthouse belongs to Olidans city mansion, built in 1789 as the residence of the officers who supervised the construction of the canal. The mansion later belonged to the Canal Company and was transferred during the 1900s to Vattenfall AB and became the home of the director. In the 1990s the property was sold out to private ownership, and is now owned by Stefan Christiernin. The guest house was originally part of the defense overnight accommodation and a stores which is located on the Canal island but was under private ownership turned into a modern dwelling. It was completely renovated in 2011 including new kitchen and bathroom for the benefit of friends, family - and potential tenants.
The guesthouse is about 60 sqm with two bedrooms, open plan kitchen with a living room, bathroom and a small hallway. It is fully furnished with three permanent beds and an extra sofa bed for two adults in the living room. Beds are distributed with a double bed in the master bedroom and a single bed in the smaller. It is fully equipped with washing machine, shower and toilet, TV, DVD, vacuum cleaners, microwave, stove and oven, coffee maker, refrigerator, freezer and Chinese rice cooker. In front of the guest house is a small associated patio with barbecue facilities, and parking space. There are in addition nice lush areas with walking and cycling opportunities around the Canal island just off the guesthouse. Trollhättan locks, Trollhättan church, Olidans powerhouse (Sweden's first hydroelectric power dam), "Insight" (power station museum) by cable car and "spectacular waterfalls" are all within short walking distance of a few kilometers. The area near the lock gates offers many beautiful places for a picnic in the countryside or a barbecue.
The distance to the center (The queens square) is about 2 km or 20 min walk. Opposite the guesthouse, across the canal are the Saab Car Museum, Innovatum Science Center, business houses, gym and Trollhättan Tourist Office, which you easily access trough the bridge across the canal.
Through the locks, you can also walk or ride a bike to
this exciting area with a unique industrial history.
It is possible to rent Olidans guesthouse for
a shorter period of time when our family, friends
and relatives don’t need the guesthouse.
It is also possible to rent bed linen, towels,
beach towels and picnic bag if desired.
